CONSTRUCTION \ ABWK VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer Process

1. Provide your name and email address for our Volunteer Database so we can email you opportunities.

Click here to sign up at our Volunteer Database.

Whether you're signing up for yourself, a group, a business, an organization, a church, etc., all we need is one contact person.

We will email you a "Volunteer Alert" once we start scheduling each new construction and each ABWK repair project.

Once we begin emailing you "Volunteer Alerts," you can schedule yourself or up to 10-15 people to volunteer with you!

2. Wait for the "Volunteer Alert" email from Habitat.

Inside the "Volunteer Alert" email, there will be a link to our construction calendar, as well as worksite location(s) and scheduling dates.

The "Volunteer Alert" will include opportunities for all construction programs, including new home and A Brush With Kindness.

Note: the "volunteer alert" email is NOT the same as the confirmation email you will receive immediately after signing up in our database. The subject will read "Volunteer Alert."

3. Visit the VolunteerHub to register for available dates!

Register for available dates, scheduling just yourself or a whole group of people!  Typically we schedule 5-15 people on a construction or repair project.

Schedule by VolunteerHub

You can choose to visit the VolunteerHub at anytime; however, if you are not signed up in our database (see #1) to receive "Volunteer Alert" emails, you will not be notified when scheduling begins each time.

4. Fill out and submit a waiver of liability BEFORE volunteering!

You can find the liability waivers here.

5. Show up, have fun and take pride in knowing  you are making a difference in someone's life!

If you've signed up for the volunteer database, we will email you as volunteer opportunities arise.  If you haven't heard from Habitat for Humanity, it is because there are no opportunities at that specific time or because your email server bounced our Volunteer Alert back to us.  Please add Habitat to your "safe" email list to prevent this.

WORK SITE GUIDELINES!
We take our job - and your job - seriously.  Be sure that you:

Know volunteers must be at least 16 years old to be on the construction site.

Download and read Habitat for Humanity's site safety plan.

Remember a maximum of 10 construction volunteers are allowed on the site at any one time.

Are dressed appropriately for the weather, your own safety and health.  Gloves or heavy shoes or boots are perfect.  No open-toed shoes allowed.

Bring water (not soda) on hot days.

Complete and sign a waiver of liability form.

The Construction Supervisor will give you details about the specific tasks of the day.  We will try to make good use of your time.  We want you to have a good volunteer experience with us.  Wear a nametag and introduce yourself to other volunteers.  You may meet a homeowner family, since family members work on their own and other Habitat Homes.  If possible, please bring basic hand tools (hammer 16oz or heavier, tape measure, utility knife, etc.)  Please clearly label your tools!
