Northrop Grumman Newport News, along with the United Steelworkers of America (Local 8888) will begin work on another house for the Peninsula Habitat for Humanity. Current and retired employees from all levels of Northrop Grumman have helped in the building of the sponsored homes. Northrop Grumman volunteers are involved in the entire build process from design to delivery. Northrop Grumman provides volunteers, financial support and coordination for this project.

2008 Women's Build / Griffin Family Groundbreaking

Habitat For Humanity will partner with area businesses to form the 2008 Women’s Build!  The LPGA Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill is partnering again with Habitat for this build, marking its fourth consecutive year as a Women's Build Sponsor. WVBT Fox 43 has signed on for a second year as a sponsor and will televise the entire construction process.

Other partners for this project include: *1st Advantage Federal Credit Union, Equidata, *Habitat ReStore, *Langley Federal Credit Union, **Lowe’s, Newport News Medical Society Alliance, Norwalk Furniture, Peninsula Black Nurses, *POMOCO Automotive Group, *St. Kateri Tekakwitha, *TeleTech and York River Electric, Inc.

*These partners have participated on previous Women Build projects. **Lowe's is the national Women Build sponsor.

Actual construction for this project will not begin until September 2008.

Thrivent Builds is a national home-building alliance between Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International, which enables this local Habitat affiliate to expand its home-building capacity in 2008.

Coldwell Banker and Habitat for Humanity partnered nationwide in celebration of Coldwell Banker's 100 years of service. LaShonda Pettaway is the future homebuyer and she is joined by her two daughters, TaLisha and Teyonna, and a son, Izaijah.  LaShonda is a long-time resident of Hampton and currently works in Hampton as well.

Thank you for joining us for our 100th family dedication! This home is the second home sponsored by Ferguson. The thrilled homeowner is Franetta Johnson, a native of Williamsburg. Franetta has been a licensed, self-employed cosmetologist for over 10 years and will live in the home with her two children, a 13 year old son and a 15 year old daughter.

The excited homeowner is Patricia Bell, a lifelong resident of Newport News and a part-time worker at both Food Lion and Rennie's Citgo. Patricia will live in this home with her mother and her 13-year old daughter.
