This home was built for the Kecia Jones-Fikes family by the Associated General Contractors of the Virginia Peninsula (AGC). AGC comprises member firms such as general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers and service providers, including WM Jordan and Clancy & Theys. AGC members have enlisted the help of their suppliers, subcontractors, employees and business associates to build this three bedroom, two bath home.

Kecia Jones-Fikes has four children and two of her daughters will live with her in the new Habitat home. Kecia is employed by the Fertile Ground Landscaping Company.

Watson Family | "Fund for Humanity" House

James City County, VA

Michelle Watson and son Roy are Williamsburg residents, anxiously awaiting the opportunity to purchase their first home. Michelle grew up in Wakefield, VA and is employed with Aramark in Williamsburg.

Funding for this land provided by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

All of Habitat’s mortgage payments are placed in a “Fund for Humanity” to be used toward construction of new homes.

Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities. Women Build is not about excluding men, but including more women in construction activities. Women and men from diverse backgrounds have signed on to pick up hammers and power tools to help the Brooks family build their way to a better future.

The homeowner-to-be is Pearlean Brooks, who will live in the home with her daughter Mariah and Mariah’s newborn son, Armond.
