ABOUT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PENINSULA

Habitat for Humanity Peninsula partners with area families, local government, businesses, faith groups, schools, associations and individual volunteers and donors to build safe, decent affordable homes and also to repair homes for lower-income families.

We are dedicated to the exercise of faith in action by building and selling safe, decent, affordable houses and communities in partnership with low-income families.

In response to the great need for safe, decent, affordable housing on the Virginia Peninsula, an ecumenical group of individuals formed Habitat for Humanity Peninsula in 1985.

We started our first home in 1986 and, since then, our affiliate has completed over 100 houses in your own backyard!

Originally based in the home of Founder Lorraine Austin, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula is now located in the John Yancey Building at 809 Main Street, Newport News.
