HOMEOWNER QUALIFICATIONS

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps lower-income families realize the dream of home ownership.  Construction of each Habitat house is a cooperative effort between volunteers, house sponsors and the buyer(s) of the house.

Here is the link to the sample Habitat homebuyer application: Sample Homebuyer Application.

Applications are typically available twice a year, in late February and late August. Check back in July to see if applications are being accepted in August 2010. Read the qualifications on this page to be sure you qualify for this program.

Construction takes 4 to 6 months. A house is not started until the fundraising for it is complete. Habitat in turn uses your mortgage payments to help build more Habitat homes!
